Start a trial and connect
Your own documents need a trial or subscription. $19 a month or $199 a year, after a 7-day card-backed trial.
Start the 7-day trialIn the CiteMatch app
- In CiteMatch, open Account and choose I have an account. Your browser opens Connect your app.
- Choose Make app connection code.
- Back in CiteMatch, paste the code under Connection code and choose Connect this device.
In Word
- Choose Make connection code on your setup page or in Account.
- In the CiteMatch pane, open Settings.
- Paste the code under Word installation and choose Connect Word.
Each code works once. If one expires, make a new code.
Connect free public sources
Codified statutes and regulations need no setup. Two free connections add more: a CourtListener account for cases, and one federal key from api.data.gov.
In the CiteMatch app
Open Account, then Source access keys.
- Cases. Choose Connect CourtListener and sign in, or choose Use an access key instead.
- Federal sources. Choose Get free federal key. When the key arrives by email, copy it and choose Paste and connect. One key works for GovInfo, Congress.gov, and Regulations.gov.
In Word
Open More → Sources, then Source access.
- Cases. Paste your CourtListener key under CourtListener access key.
- Federal sources. Paste the federal key under GovInfo access key.
Then choose Test and save free keys.
CiteMatch tests a key once your app or Word installation is connected to an active trial or subscription.
Review your brief

In Word
Open your brief in Word. In the CiteMatch pane, choose Check my brief.

- Each source lookup leaves a receipt. In the app, open Source receipt on a quote or citation. In Word, find Source receipts under More → Sources.
